Project and customer description

JTRE is a real estate developer and property manager operating in Bratislava, Berlin and London. Together with 365.invest, it introduced data-driven waste management across several major office buildings in Bratislava, including Westend Square.

The project, implemented with Sensoneo, gives property managers and tenants precise information about how much waste is generated and how effectively individual waste streams are sorted. At Siemens’ offices in Westend Square, waste data is measured and tracked using Sensoneo’s Facility Waste Management solution.

Challenge

Before implementing the solution, JTRE mainly had access to approximate waste data at the office tenant level. Waste collection companies could report how much waste was collected, but individual tenants had limited insight into exactly how much they generated or how successfully they were sorting it.

For tenants with ambitious ESG and sustainability targets, estimates were no longer sufficient. JTRE wanted accurate tenant-level data that could support ESG reporting, internal decision-making and, at the same time, help identify opportunities to reduce the most expensive waste stream — mixed waste.

Solution

Sensoneo deployed its Facility Waste Management solution, combining a weighing scale, a tablet and software for real-time waste data collection.

Facility staff simply select the tenant and waste type before weighing the waste. Thanks to the scale’s Bluetooth connection, the measured weight is transferred automatically into the system, eliminating the need to enter values manually.

The resulting data gives building management and tenants visibility into waste generation on a monthly and yearly basis, while also allowing them to monitor whether sorting performance is improving over time.

Impact

The project transformed waste management from a process based largely on estimates into one supported by measurable data.

At Siemens’ Westend Square offices, the sorting rate increased significantly, with the available data showing a rise from 25.3% to 40.9% and individual monthly results reaching nearly 50% in early 2026 after introducing kitchen waste separation. An improvement that could be accurately tracked thanks to Sensoneo’s weighing solution.

Beyond better sustainability reporting, more detailed waste data enables facility teams to actively manage waste streams, identify opportunities to improve sorting, and optimize waste collection processes.
